I’m 29 years old and I’m now a post-op transwoman (male-to-female transsexual). At the moment, I am sharing my time between my place in Dundee, and my girlfriend Caroline’s place in Royston (Herts), but this will be simplified when I move in with C pernamently, probably in March this year. We’ve been together for ten months months - since the end of March 2007, and I’m really starting to get used to the area, and like the place. The area is close enough to London, a small town in itself, with lots of rural areas around. OK, nothing is perfect, but it's good enough. I'm currently doing voluntary work for The Ormiston Children & Families Trust, as a Helpline Volunteer for the Prisoners Families Helpline a few afternoons a week. I’ve previously worked in call centres, helpdesks, train operators, dispatch offices, parcel offices, courier controller, you get the drift. Semi-skilled, that’s me. I try to put my heart into what I do, which can sometimes lead to complications! I have inherited a (currently incurable) genetic disorder called Huntington’s. This does not lead to any problems at the moment, but I am ‘at risk’ from one day having this take over my body. As well as having worked for transport providers (and currently spending some time living beside the Cambridge-London electric Great Northern line), I have an interest in public transport. Not so much now as I used to, but I still take pictures (especially of anything unusual or out of place), and travel around, as well as collecting literature and researching services and network provision (I don’t usually stand around with a notebook or anything!) I’ve managed to get from Cambridge to Dundee for £2.00 (by bus) on one occasion… currently trying to beat that… Music on the MP3 player can include Alcazar, Armand Van Helden, Beyonce, Chicane, Fat Boy Slim, Flip & Fill, Frantik Zimmer, Franz Ferdinand, Go Go's, Kaiser Cheifs, Kelly Clarkson, KT Tunstall, Moped, Potted Heid, Razorlight, Rianna, Scooter, Shakira, Sophie Ellis Bextor, The Killers, U2, both the Bedingfields, and of course, The Illusion Principle! Some of my favourite travel spots include around Hertfordshire, Essex, Cambridgeshire or London. Up north, anywhere rural, Angus, Fife, Perthshire, Glasgow and the West, Livingston/West Lothian.
